SCCC candles are made using a 100% pure soy wax (no chemical additives or stabilizers), which can cause the wax to have a yellow appearance when left in direct sunlight or in candles with certain fragrance oils. This coloration does not affect the candle in any way other than its appearance.
To get the most from your candle:
- When lighting the candle (especially the first time), let the candle burn until the melted wax reaches the edge of the container (approx 1 hr/inch). This will help prevent tunneling (when the candle burns down the middle).
- Keep the wick trimmed to .25″ before each burn. This will help keep the wax from becoming oil too quickly and drowning the wick.
- Burn the candle in a draft-less area to prevent an uneven burn.
- Our candles have a metal safety wick, which means the wick will extinguish itself before reaching the very bottom of the candle. This will leave about 1/8″ of wax at the bottom. This is done on purpose to ensure a safe burn and our prices take into consideration the wax that’s left over.
- Of course, follow the candle’s warning label for safe burning.
